Sunday Night Knit Night

Around the time I got engaged, I jokingly asked my mother-in-law to be if I could join her Monday night knit night once I moved to town permanently. It’s an exclusive circle including her, the owner of the local yarn shop, and a couple of their friends. She didn’t catch my joke and signed me up for knitting lessons as my Christmas present.

Since my lessons, I have somewhat become a knit wit so I thought it might be a good idea to host a Sunday night knit night here on my blog. I’ll bring my needles and yarn, you bring the coffee (decaf, please), and we’ll chat about what I’m working on, interesting things I found last week, or what’s on deck for the coming week.

You can’t have a case of the Sunday scaries if your hands are busy knitting (or scrolling), am I right?

What I’m Knitting

I made a pair of fingerless mitts over my Christmas break. My dear husband liked the idea so much that he said he wanted a pair, but he wanted them in hunter green and with fingers but not full-on gloves. He’s not high maintenance at all.

I kid.

I’m using this Man Love Glove pattern on ravelry, and I found some hunter green Stroll Tweed yarn in my stash that I bought to make him a pair of socks eventually. But seeing that my first pair of socks are nowhere near finished and I started them in July, I figured the Stroll Tweed would be better suited for the gloves.

P.S. All tweed yarns at Knit Picks are 20% til January 24. Who wants to go shopping?

I also cast on a hot pink chunky cowl this morning. Even though I’m on a spending freeze, I treated myself to some Wool & the Gang Crazy Sexy Wool on Monday because I was with my dear friend Sarah. We agreed we needed souvenir yarn from our outing.

Things of Interest

I made this garlic pepperoni bread last night. Super easy and full of carbs – my favorite combination.

I’m three books down on my Goodreads Reading Challenge for the year, and I just cracked open Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng.

I made some meringue cookies this morning. They were by far my favorite treat I made for Christmas. I found the recipe in the Sally’s Baking Addiction Cookie Addiction cookbook we received as a wedding present. It’s the best cookbook for cookies by far.

It snowed like a foot where we are this week and yet I walked downtown yesterday without a coat. North Carolina is weird. I hope you have a great week ahead of you. What’s going on in your neck of the woods?
